Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School teacher Tyler Gage is using a $25,000 Education Innovation grant from PSHF and Farmers’ Insurance Hawaii to support student-run hydroponic farm businesses. After students grow their own plants in the school greenhouse, the plants are prepared in the school kitchen then the created products are sold at a farmers market. Students gain useful knowledge in biology, entrepreneurship, and marketing. Video story courtesy Hawaii News Now.
