Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School Students Run a Hydroponic Farm Business

Chiefess Kamakahelei Middle School teacher Tyler Gage is using a $25,000 Education Innovation grant from PSHF and Farmers鈥� Insurance Hawaii to support student-run hydroponic farm businesses.聽 After students grow their own plants in the school greenhouse, the plants are prepared in the school kitchen then the created products are sold at a farmers market.聽 Students gain useful knowledge in biology, entrepreneurship, and marketing.聽 Video story courtesy Hawaii News Now.
